What you need
- Acrylic specifically coated for sublimation
- A mirrored sublimation print
- Heat press and clean protective paper
- Heat-safe flat cooling surface
Step-by-step
1
Plan and measure
Size the design for the sheet or finished sign and include mounting holes or cut areas in the layout.
2
Prepare the artwork
Mirror the design unless the supplier specifies reverse-side printing through clear acrylic.
3
Remove the correct film
Remove protective film only from the printable side and avoid touching the coating.
4
Position and protect
Place the transfer against the correct face and use clean protective paper.
5
Press as directed
Follow the exact acrylic supplier settings and keep pressure even across the sheet.
6
Cool completely flat
Move the sheet to a heat-safe flat surface and do not bend or mount it until fully cool.
Common problems
| Problem | Likely cause | Try this |
|---|---|---|
| Sheet warps | Acrylic was too hot or cooled unevenly | Use specified settings and cool flat |
| Image appears reversed | Wrong print orientation | Confirm front- or reverse-side printing |
| Cloudy marks | Protective film or contamination remains | Clean and prepare the correct face |
