What you need
- A mug manufactured for sublimation
- A mirrored sublimation print sized for the mug
- Mug press or approved mug-heating system
- Heat-resistant tape and heat gloves
Step-by-step
1
Size the artwork
Measure the printable area and keep important details away from the handle and curved edges.
2
Prepare the mug
Wipe the coated surface clean and check for chips or coating defects.
3
Wrap the print
Position the design face-down, pull it firmly around the mug and secure it without wrinkles.
4
Heat the mug
Use the mug and equipment supplier’s recommended starting settings.
5
Remove carefully
Wear heat protection, remove the transfer cleanly and avoid shifting it across the hot coating.
6
Cool safely
Place the mug on a heat-safe surface and allow it to cool naturally before washing or packing.
Common problems
| Problem | Likely cause | Try this |
|---|---|---|
| Faded edge | Uneven contact near the edge | Recheck positioning and pressure |
| Ghosting | Paper moved during removal | Secure and lift the paper cleanly |
| Brown or blurred print | Too much heat or time | Reduce gradually and retest |
