What you need
- A bag suitable for sublimation or the chosen transfer method
- A mirrored sublimation print for polyester printable areas
- Heat press and clean protective paper
- Heat-resistant pressing pad or support
Step-by-step
1
Identify the printable area
Check the material, coating and construction, then measure the exact panel or flap.
2
Prepare the artwork
Size and mirror the design for sublimation. Keep important details away from seams, zips and curved edges.
3
Prepare the bag
Remove lint and insert clean protective paper so ink cannot transfer through the layers.
4
Support seams and closures
Raise the printable area with a pressing pad so bulky straps, zips and seams stay outside the pressure zone.
5
Position and press
Secure the transfer and use the bag supplier’s recommended time, temperature and pressure.
6
Cool and assemble
Remove the transfer cleanly, cool the bag flat and refit any removable flap only after it has cooled.
Common problems
| Problem | Likely cause | Try this |
|---|---|---|
| Pale area near a seam | Uneven contact | Raise the printable panel with a pad |
| Ink transfers through | Layers were not protected | Insert clean protective paper |
| Zip or strap is marked | Hardware entered the heat area | Move it outside the heated element |
